Trailers for “Alice: Madness Returns”
Several months ago I posted the short teaser trailer for Alice: Madness Returns, the upcoming sequel to American McGee’s Alice which will be released on June 14th of this year. Here are three more trailers which give an enticing taste of the game:

“In the Trees”: A Twin Peaks Art Exhibition
In the Trees was an art exhibition featuring art inspired by David Lynch’s television show Twin Peaks, for its 20th anniversary. It opened on February 12. These are my favorite works from the show (you can view all of them here):

Jessica Harrison’s “Breaking” Series
In this series of ceramic sculptures, artist Jessica Harrison undermines and perverts the kitschy sentimentality of porcelain figurines by “breaking” them, casting a macabre twist on the familiar decorative art form. 19th-century ladies with vacantly blithe expressions hold their own severed, gory-edged head in their lap, gaily dangle their bloody eyeballs above them, and with fleshless, skeletal face recline daintily on a chaise longue. I would love to have these doll-sculptures in my home, they are such clever miniature subversions of prim and happy porcelain figurines, having a dimension of interest that the traditional harmlessly sweet figurines never possess.

The Drawings of Mako
Gorgeously delicate line drawings featuring macabre/erotic depictions of languid maidens tangled up in choking undergrowth, deadly flora, murderous branches, their hearts and anatomies (literally) exposed, from Japanese artist Mako.

“Immune”: Floria Sigismondi
Floria Sigismondi is an Italian-Canadian photographer, director, and filmmaker who breaks the boundaries between mainstream and alternative visual culture. She has worked with many high-profile artists on their music videos, including Björk, The Cure, Marilyn Manson, and The White Stripes. Her personal projects and commercial work both amaze me with their preternatural beauty and color.

Floria’s vivid, hallucinatory images are morbid, beautiful, and hyper[sur]real. Her works take place in a strange, artificial, and gorgeously colorful world of her own – film stills from her videos could be taken for photo-art and vice versa.

Naomi Campbell/Alex Kovas by Mert & Marcus for Interview Magazine

These are from an editorial in the October 2010 issue of Interview Magazine featuring Naomi Campbell and a sadism/domination/torture theme. I love the contrast of the man’s pallid flesh and tattoos. The male model is Alex Kovas.
