  • TRON: Legacy {Fashion}

    01.29.11

    You know what I’m looking forward to in the future? Aside from a cure for cancer, and personal jet-packs, and all that? Slick, form-fitting fashion like that in TRON: Legacy.

  • The Drawings of Mako

    12.22.10

    Gorgeously delicate line drawings featuring macabre/erotic depictions of languid maidens tangled up in choking undergrowth, deadly flora, murderous branches, their hearts and anatomies (literally) exposed, from Japanese artist Mako.

  • Vintage Dream Photography by Ellen Rogers

    12.01.10

    Ellen Rogers‘ gorgeous, experimental film photography, reminiscent of 19th-century hand-colored pictures, always makes me feel like I’ve entered an ethereal dreamland that combines the past and the present seamlessly, where beautiful princesses come out of the shadows and mists and lure you. Rogers does everything with analog cameras, film, and darkroom techniques only, with the resulting images being sometimes blurred, overlaid, and having other interesting and charmingly individual effects. Sometimes black-and-white, sometimes with the unreal, super-saturated color of vintage photos, her work is delightful and dreamy and piquant.

  • The Trembling Fires of Dreams: An Installation

    11.13.10

    In contrast to the last “deer-related” post, this is an intriguing installation artwork by Gene Guynn, titled The Trembling Fires of Dreams, which is made from resin, enamel, and yarn, and depicts a lying white deer being circled by two black jackals. The deer has a triangle opening painted on its side, seeming to indicate a kind of vivisection, the exposure of the deer’s internals, with multicolored strands of yarn stretching up and outwards, and also pinning the deer down to the ground on either side. The jackals are attached to all black, frayed strings.

  • “Before the Tide Comes In” by Zhang Jingna

    10.08.10

    I’ve just seen a fashion editorial featuring Mother of London clothing and photographed by Zhang Jingna over on Twisted Lamb which is incredible. Titled Before the Tide Comes In, Fashion Gone Rogue describes the concept as “a dark maiden of the sea.”
